Meet the Ever Studio team.

Ever was founded by Billy Lam, following a 6-month stint volunteering in Cambodia with Swiss architect Martin Aerne. This experience has remained central to the philosophy that underpins our practice, inspiring our commitment to caring for people and for the world through design.

Over the years, Ever has evolved from a solo architect to a talented multi-cultural studio. Working as a small, close-knit team means that our clients receive both a highly personal approach and the benefit of our combined perspectives and experience. In our studio we collaborate openly, explore ideas thoroughly to draw out the best outcomes, and encourage everyone – from senior architects to graduates – to be actively involved in every part of the process.

Prioritising the wellbeing and the professional growth of our people is a cornerstone of our studio culture. We want our staff to feel challenged, valued and empowered - and we intentionally move away from traditional expectations of strict hierarchies and excessive overtime. Fostering an uplifting process, delivering an excellent outcome and creating a positive impact for you all starts with the way we treat each other as a team.

You’ll find us friendly, thoughtful and approachable as we humbly disrupt our industry. We challenge and critique preconceptions everyday out of a desire to serve you better.

  • Billy Lam
    Director and Architect

Born in Hong Kong but raised in Brisbane, Billy is passionate about serving people through intentional and purposeful design. After a six-month volunteer stint with Swiss Architect Martin Aerne in Cambodia in 2015, Billy established Ever Architecture Studio in 2016 to design homes and buildings that are marked by a sense of peace derived from connection to nature. Each project reflects a deep-seated desire to help - to get to know, understand and design for the good of clients and their families, to design homes that uplift and reflect people’s cultures and desires, and to celebrate the opportunity to cultivate and make something beautiful in a specific place.

Since our inception, he has completed a range of new build and renovation projects from mid-range to high-end across South East Queensland.

Our Values

People

To creatively and intentionally seek what’s authentically good for the client, for co-workers, for the community.  To be understanding, dependable, attentive and trustworthy, working with the client from beginning to end.  To see inherent worth in the people we interact with. To share joy and praise if it comes, knowing we can’t deliver a building alone.

Nature

Buildings designed with connection to the garden as a starting point.  Spaces are formed “from the outside in”, and key views help to define the architectural response.

The building is quiet and a frame for nature to speak – so that the client/user is invited to slow down and contemplate their place in the world.  This ensures better design outcomes, and buildings that exist in a complimentary way to their surroundings.

Timelessness

Light, breezes, greenery – these are gifts to us, and they provide a sense of rest and refreshment – “true luxury” - that money can’t buy.

In an industry based on facades, fads and fake veneers, the desire is to stand for authenticity in materiality and expression.

In opposition to an Instagram-fuelled hyperactive world where buildings are judged within two seconds on its immediate “wow” factor, the design aim is to exude quality in a quiet way that endures and appreciates over time.

Generosity

Being intentional in investing time in, and training up, young Architects and students.  Devoting time and resources to teaching and impactful thought and action, knowing that the pursuit of good and beauty has deeper worth and meaning.

We look forward to taking care of you through good architecture.
We’re not here to rush you - reach out when you feel ready!
